I’ve been a part of the 105.5 family since before the rebirth of the Kat. I came onboard here back during the My 105.5 era. I’ve been in the radio industry for almost 17 years. Multiple positions, multiple formats, multiple towns. Proud product of Broadcast Center of St. Louis (!!!)
**First Concert -- The Judds & Randy Travis – Fox Theatre (St. Louis) Seriously….Example No.1 of things we would NEVER do on our own, but agree to for our girlfriends….I’m man enough to admit it……. (and no, I did not marry her.)
**First album – Def Leppard “Pyromania” (on cassette!) That album became the soundtrack to a chunk of my youth, and set the tone for a love of production value. It also led to purchases of Dio’s – “Holy Diver” and AC/DC’s – “Back in Black”, and Van Halen’s DLR era back catalog, before I was old enough to drive.
**First artist interview. – Goo Goo Dolls at the Missouri State Fair 1996. I was such a novice that I fouled up the meet and greet by dominating the band’s time. Still surprised that someone in mgmt at the venue, the band, or my Program Dir. didn’t banish me from future events.
**Favorite Moment with a band. -- Got invited on stage to sing “I Was Drunk” with Royal Bliss. Great Band. Great Song. A barroom sing along for the 21st century.
**FULL DISCLOSURE -- I’m a filthy Beer snob. I Don’t drink to get hammered, I just LOVE good beer. I will pay A-LOT for premium beer. Pilsner Urqell, Franziskaner Weissbier, Goose Island – Matilda, Schlafly – Oatmeal Stout, Stella Artois. Mmmmm-*burp*………. Beer snob. Ooh. And just got my hands on a bottle of the Templeton Rye (out of Iowa) maybe I’ll be a whiskey snob too.
**Growing up in the St. Louis metroplex, I’ve kept those teams as my own. Cardinals, Rams, and Blues. But, I do enjoy the Chicago Bulls and the Fighting Illini.
**TV and movie favs -- that’s tough. I don’t watch a lot of TV beyond sports and news. I did develop an appreciation for Canada’s “Trailer Park Boys” last year. Before that, the last sit-com I enjoyed was “Arrested Development”. Qwife keeps trying to get me to watch “Fringe” . Plus, with kids, you develop an eye for a good cartoon. My go-to with Quididdle right now is “The Amazing World of Gumball”. It’s innovative, clever and most importantly….the stories usually have a redeeming quality...they aren’t just vehicles for punch lines that are over the kids heads.
